Periodontal Gum Therapy
Do you experience red, bleeding, or inflamed gums? What about chronic bad breath or gums that are pulling away from the tooth? These symptoms are all markers for periodontal disease; an inflammatory condition linked to many general health concerns. As an integral part of our Redmond dentistry practice, we offer periodontal gum therapy to treat this condition to help protect the overall health of our patients.
If you are diagnosed with periodontal disease, Dr. Ostler will recommend a special deep cleaning called scaling and root planing. Periodontal disease is a result of the inflammatory effects of bacteria associated with deep pockets between the gums and teeth where tartar is embedded. During scaling and root planing, your mouth is numbed, the tartar is removed and the roots of your teeth are cleaned thoroughly.
After your scaling and root planing treatment is complete, our primary goal is to help you maintain good future gum health. Dr. Ostler will discuss the progression of your treatment and recommend a return program based on your needs. Good hygiene and regular checkups are the best way to prevent periodontal disease from returning.
Without professional treatment, periodontal disease can lead to serious oral and general health conditions. Heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and certain cancers have all been linked to periodontal disease. Our periodontal gum therapy provides Redmond with dentistry to protect both your smile and your body. If you think you may have gum disease, contact our office today to schedule your consultation with Dr. Ostler.
